Alan J. Porter of Quadralay Corporation just announced a new subscription plan for WebWorks Publisher. This subscription rate should work well for small companies and lone writers, allowing them to opt into the technology with a reasonably low level of commitment. The rate is quite reasonable, and includes any and all upgrades while your subscription is valid. Here are the details as announced:
The WebWorks team is pleased to announce the launch of a new Renewable License Program.
The Renewable License Program is designed to help companies that may be experiencing budget constraints or cash-flow issues by giving them an alternative way to experience the power of the WebWorks ePublisher Platform.
The Renewable License Program will also benefit individual documentation specialists who may wish to learn new skills, add a new product to their portfolio, and increase the value of their resume in today’s competitive employment market.
Priced at $85 per writer per month, this new program will allow customers to purchase either a 6-month or 12-month renewable license at a low cost per writer. The price also includes automatic upgrades to any new version released during the contract period, so that you will always be up-to-date with new features and capabilities added to the ePublisher Platform, such as new output formats, Web 2.0 features, and wiki integrations.
A low-cost, Web-based training option will also be available for customers on the Renewable License Program.
Customers who wish to move from the Renewable License model to a more traditional perpetual licensing model at the end of the contract period will receive a significant discount on the perpetual license.

It seems like a solid deal. Over the years Quadralay has changed its pricing model several times. Now, at least for smaller shops and independents, this new subscription model works well.
