What’s with the newspaper links on Twitter?

By now you’ve seen a bunch of newspaper links (”_____ Daily”) links from me on Twitter. Perhaps you’ve read them. Perhaps you’ve retweeted them (thank you!). Allow me to explain what you’re seeing.

The papers are generated automatically using paper.li, a Twitter aggregator that takes a daily compilation of hash tags (or however you configure it) and presents them in a newspaper format. Any links are translated into linked stories with teasers. The paper also runs a loop of non-linked tagged tweets.

What I really like about the paper is that if I miss anything in my timeline (easy when you’re following over 700 people) I can catch it in the paper the next day! You also find new and interesting people to follow!

Anyone can create a paper, and anyone can promote a paper. Give it a try!

Regarding friend-finding Twitter tools

January 22, 2010 Social Media

I just read Rich Maggiani’s blog post Effectively Managing Twitter and aside from being many months behind all the other hundreds of “use these tools to find people to follow” articles out there, I really think the post misses the mark. I firmly believe Twitter is a social media tool, something that I think most [...]

Are you on Twitter? If so, does this scenario seem familiar?
Imagine you’re at a large social gathering. You float from conversation to conversation, greeting old friends and acquaintances and meeting new ones. You have some interesting conversations with some of the new people you meet, so you hand them your card to keep in touch. [...]
